where children sleep

photographer james mollison was asked to do a project on children's rights-he found inspiration by thinking back to his childhood bedroom and the importance it played in his upbringing. he traveled the world capturing images of children and where they call home. he first took pictures of the children outside their home environment, in front of a neutral background so that it would hide their economic status and show “kids are just kids.” when their bedroom is shown, we can understand the full scope of their living situation. some interesting, some what you'd expect, and some heartbreaking. i'm extremely sensitive when it comes to little ones- so some of these images don't sit well with me.

can you remember your childhood bedroom?
